Welcome to Tairāwhiti Gisborne

Tairāwhiti Gisborne is the perfect place for a getaway. Far from crowds but as close to paradise as it gets. From sacred mountains to the shores of the vast Pacific Ocean, Tairāwhiti Gisborne is a stunning and unique corner of Aotearoa. Looking back to the arrival of great Polynesian voyagers, Captain James Cook’s landing, and the very first encounter between Māori and Europeans. Tairāwhiti Gisborne is a significant region steeped in New Zealand culture and history. As the first city in the world to see the sunrise each day, there’s plenty of time to explore unspoiled beaches and flourishing vineyards, connect with the welcoming people of this land and discover New Zealand in a whole new light. The land of the first light is a fun-filled destination that offers something for everyone.

  • Katrina took 4 of us on a wonderful overnight bike trip from Matawai via Eastwoodhill to Tairāwhiti Gisborne. The cycling was through a variety of landscapes, some challenging but a lot of downhills to make up for it! Overnight at Eastwoodhill was a delightful and tranquil stop... a must to spend time enjoying the Arboretum and the hospitality of Dan, Monique, and Marion.

  • We had a winery tour with 14 girlfriends. Anelia was wonderful to deal with, making sure all our needs were met, and putting together a fantastic itinerary. The bikes were stylish and comfortable, and the vineyards she chose were great, working in with how many kilometres we wanted to cycle. She made sure we had a day to remember! Very, very highly recommended!

  • A very enjoyable trip. Katrina and Anelia went out of their way to make sure everything ran to plan - and it did. This isn't a route with 5-star accommodation but the warm welcome, great rural hospitality, experiences such as the Eastwoodhill Tour (a standout!), wine and beer tasting, and, most of all, the people, made it memorable. Oh, and the cycling was a lot of fun too!

  • I'm just settling back into normal life in the US (boring!) and wanted to thank you again for the bike tour of the Tairāwhiti Gisborne area. I had a great time! It was a beautiful ride and I really appreciated how accommodating you (and Ella) were. :) If I ever find myself in Gisborne again, I'd certainly do another tour with your company.

  • OK, I admit that before I set out I was a skeptic! I love my wine and have never cycled more than 3km in my life, so the concept of doing the former in moderation and the latter in excess was really taking me out of my comfort zone! All I can say is it was UNBELIEVABLY fun and so ACHIEVABLE... even for someone like me!
